馬籠観光案内所(荷物預かり所)

馬籠の観光案内所ですが、マップを貰うだけでなく、色々な展示も有ります。
今回は吊り雛飾りが美しく展示されてました。
建物も歴史ある街並みにマッチする日本家屋なのでそれも高ポイントです。

Useless. Canceled their baggage forwarding service because of corona because reasons? Post office still operates, so why did they cancel their service? After speaking with the staff in Japanese for a few seconds, she asked if I could speak Japanese (in Japanese). First of all, we have been speaking Japanese, so shouldn’t it be clear that I can speak it? Second, if I couldn’t speak Japanese, why would you ask me that in Japanese? You’d think a tourist information center would have some experience dealing with tourists.

Magome to Tsumago along the Nakasendo walking trail is approximately 8 Kms and should take between 2 and 3 hours depending on your level of fitness and the number of times you stop to enjoy the ambience of the area. The trail passes by traditional Japanese houses, forests, rivers, tilled fields and crosses local roads.

The path is reasonably well sign posted in Japanese and English. There are frequent signs and bells to ring to ward off the local bears, however the only wild life we saw was birds, frogs and a very fast moving snake. The bells actually warned of approaching tourists.

Directly following the peak of the walk, about half way on the left side of the path, we were encouraged to have Japanese tea with an elderly Japanese gentleman in traditional dress. It was a great opportunity to exchange travel stories with him and the many other travellers from various parts of the world.

While it was our original intention to bus our luggage to Tsumago, we elected instead to travel early and catch a local bus back to our hotel near Magome.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience, including our lunch in Tsumago.

Awesome place to hike between the towns. Clean and different places to buy food. Chestnuts are the specialty in this area.

馬籠から妻籠までの手荷物運搬サービスで利用。ハイキング利用者には大変助かるサービスなのですが、馬籠のバス停から坂道をけっこう登らないといけないので、預けるまでがなかなか大変。
バス停付近で預けられるようにして欲しい。

馬籠の宿場町の真ん中くらいにある。
女性が１人おられ、窓越しに対応してくれた。親切で感じ良い。オープンなカウンターの作りだったら、もっと色々とゆっくり話せるのに、少し残念。
妻籠まで歩く人のために完歩証明を販売している。ここと妻籠の観光案内所で押印してもらう仕組み。桧を薄くスライスしたものに印字がしてある。記念になって良い。
