川郷バス停最寄りのカフェです。座席が多くなく社長の方が運営しているため、時間帯をよく合わせていかなければなりません。トイレは外にあります。抹茶を注文しましたが、シーソーモナカを一緒に出してくれます。独特の香りに好仏号があるかもしれませんが抹茶とよく合います。

We had kinako rice balls & horse-chestnut rice balls at Kisa Satou (喫茶さとう). We prefer the the horse-chestnut rice balls because the sweetness of the red bean soup matches well with the horse-chestnut rice balls. The kinako rice balls was slightly salty to be considered as sweet snacks. These are warm sweet snacks we had during a cold winter evening. Ambience is nice, service is alright, english menu is available, food variety is ok. We went there during winter, the food snack choices we remember were onigiri, glutinous rice balls, coffee, green tea.to name a few.

Awkwardly stood in the shop for about 5 minute waiting to be seated, but no staff ever came to the front to greet, though there were 2 other customers in the middle of having their meal.

Located just across the road from the Shirakawago bus stop, I needed refreshments away from the crowd and happened upon this fine establishment. The hostess was a gentle and kind lady who immediately set to work on my iced latte and miso onigiri. Served in the old kissaten style, the coffee was superb - refreshing and served accompanied with a chocolate and biscuit. The miso onigiri was served on a hoba leaf, in I think Hida style. Flavour of the miso onigiri was a fine savoury rice with texture added by the sesame seeds.
Wonderful visit which I really enjoyed.

白川郷に来ました。
あまり時間はなかったのですが、バスターミナルそばの喫茶さとうさんに入りました。
そば団子汁を頼んでみました。

そば団子汁は、高山地方の郷土料理のようです。
今日のそば団子汁は、そば粉を丸めたそば団子の上に、木綿豆腐とシイタケが乗っかり、まわりには３月らしく綺麗な麩が散りばめられていました。900円。
ちょっと甘い感じもありますが、美味しかったです。
今日は暖かかったけど、寒い雪の日には、芯から温まるおもてなし郷土料理ですね。

The dessert is a very traditional Japanese dessert! If you really like to experience the traditional culture then I strongly recommend you to visit this place!
