Family room for three of us was large. Lots of space. Very comfortable beds with AC. Staff were very friendly and service excellent. Room and bathrooms were very clean. Cannot fault anything. The owner even sang us songs and lead a few Japanese dance around the fireplace. It was fun! Would definitely recommend to anybody and would stay here again. Price was definitely cheaper than most accommodation in Japan. Very good value. Dinner and breakfast included was typical Japanese style and it’s delicious. Finished every drop of foods served

A cheap and cheerful place, this Ryokan has beautiful frontage, lovely owner and staff and you get a great dinner and breakfast for a low price. Rooms themselves are a bit old fashioned but perfectly clean and serviceable. Great location for the Kiso Valley walk although if you have suitcase, beware you need to drag it up a steep 200m walk.

Incredible experience and location, welcoming host family and plenty of good food after a long hike

Had a great stay at Tajimaya. Location was very good, just at the center of Magome-juku.
We enjoyed dinner and loved learning a traditional song and dance from the host. Bath was nice and each room could pick a specific time to use it privately (men and women separately).
Warm and welcoming hospitality

Magome is a beautiful town, and the folks at Tajimaya were a fantastic addition to a single night. I very much enjoyed their accommodations, as well as their very clear interest in my group having a great trip. Despite us not knowing a lot of Japanese, they helped out quite a bit. Breakfast and dinner were both also quite amazing. Easily one of my favorite meals on this trip.

Stayed here for the Magome to Tsumago walk. Absolutely loved it! Felt like a very traditional ryokan experience. Great breakfasts and dinners as well. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely ryokan experience at a reasonable price. The hosts are incredibly friendly and kind. It is a historical building so I am bit scared of ghosts at night, when going to the bathroom (silly, I know) so I had to wake all my friends up to accompany me. Love the tatami room, super comfy bedding and the heavy blanket induces the best sleep you’ll ever have. Excellent experience.

Experience Japanese culture, Onsen. You can choose your time bath for Onsen. This is shared toilet. Dinner and breakfast included as it’s a sleeping town when at night. The owner very friendly.

My husband and I loved our stay here! Magome during the fall season is incredible, with all the beautiful colors, crisp air and small crowds. What made our trip so memorable were the lovely people running this inn, who were warm and accommodating. We enjoyed the traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast, and especially loved relaxing in the public baths. They allowed us to pick a time slot for the bath so we could have our own, private experience for 30 minutes each day. Our room had its own private half bathroom which we enjoyed. Overall, it's a cozy, friendly place with kind people and a traditional atmosphere. The family running this inn has been doing so for 8 generations, all the way back to the Edo period. They took time to teach us the the Kiso Bushi song and dance, which made for an even more memorable experience. Highly recommend if you're looking for a memorable, more traditional experience in Magome. Enjoy.

家庭用のお風呂より一回りほどの大きさのお風呂で白人の方と二人で湯船に入る事になり英語で凄く話かけられたが「オーイェイ！」だけで乗り切れたのが良い思い出、その後の食事の時にも再開しハグ！
