鎌倉大仏殿高徳院

Remarkable statue, though the atmosphere is more social media focused than contemplation. Visiting in early hours might be best it you desire more than a selfie.

Impressive.
Great Buddha is the only attraction here. Fee is ¥200 to enter the grounds and ¥20 costs to enter inside of the statue.

Take Enoden to Hase station from Kamakura station. A quick walk enjoying the local souvenir shop takes you here. If not, buses are available too.

The area was really tranquil and serene, we just loved the feel of the place.
Well mantained. Completely accessible for wheelchair users.
Bit crowded on weekends and public holidays.

Giant Buddha in Japan, a country prevalently filled with Buddhist temples. This is one of the biggest statues, if not the biggest. A bit far from Kamakura Station though, so a bus might be good. Since it's a tourist hotspot, they're always packed, though. Not much to do here after, except going to the nearby beach!

1h30 from Tokyo by train. 200¥ to enter the place. You can go into the Buddha but it closes at 4.20 pm (I wasn't able to go in)
15 min walk from the train station

高徳院の大仏様。奈良につぎ、日本で二番目の大きさです。赤塚が三番めです。大仏様のミニチュアを送ったり、頂くと御利益があると伝えられている国もあります。海外からの来訪者も増えました。甘味処も沢山あります。

有名な大仏さま。
周囲に椅子があって、ゆっくりさせていただきました。

社務所？お守り売ってる人たちは、愛想どころかの問題以前で、色んな神社巡りましたが、やっぱりお寺は合わないな、と痛感。

感じすっごい悪かったですよ！

でも受付の女性は感じ良かったです。

I did not enjoyed the visit mainly because of the people. It was extremely crowded! Would recommend visiting either early in the morning or before closing.

Having seen other Buddha Statues, I could have skipped this one. Personally, it is not the highlight of Kamakura. If you only have a few days in Tokyo and are planning on going to Nara then skip this.

Lots of cheap chinese souvenirs, including a squeaky Buddha with popping eyes.

This Buddha statue is wonderful. But you just have that to see. (Be careful there may be a lot of people).
Cette statue de Bouddha en bronze est très belle. Vous n’avez pas beaucoup de choses à voir par contre. (faites attention il peut il y avoir beaucoup de monde).
