深谷通信所跡地

We are fortunate to have this “Tsushintai” facility, since it reverted from US (it was a comms base) to Japan control a few years ago. It’s huge, with many baseball or football fields. We walk our dog here on a long lead and he gets a lot of play in, regularly. There is free parking across from the bus stop (where there is a toilet), in and to the left. There is a larger lot that is full of families and their kids coming to enjoy baseball on the weekends and you need to be registered to park there. On clear days you can see Mt Fuji and the Tanzawa range. Since it’s very large and flat, it gets windy, so it’s a few degrees colder than the weather report might indicate, and, after rain it’s full of puddles. We love this place.

横浜市は企業経営と相続税でどんどん緑がなくなっていっているので、いい感じの自然に戻して欲しいと思いますね
子供の頃、住民感謝祭？みたいな感じで米軍が開放したたときもありました確か。
食べ物も雰囲気もアメリカだった事を覚えています

負の遺産として開発し抹消しようとするのはどうかなあ？
本牧キャンプ址を公園になる前にそこ歩いたけど、鉄筋コンクリートで出来た戸建て住宅に上がる階段とか面白かったんだけど
痕跡を全て失うと歴史の無い空間となる

草原、土手、池ありの、犬連れ散歩が気持ちの良い場所。冬には雪を頂いた美しい富士山や丹沢の稜線、春には所々にある古木の桜を楽しめます。開けた場所なので常に風があり、長く過ごすのであれば、対策として上着が一枚必要です。

行ってみたけど特に面白いものは撤去されてて無い
グラウンドとかあったけど何とも中途半端
いずれ再開発されるんだろうけど面白みは無い

It is a historical remain.
It used to be a communication station built by Japan army, which is occupied by the us army after the WW2, then returned to Japanese control in 2014. It is possible to see the remains from outside but prohibited to go inside (barbed wire all around the area).

I was so happy to see these pictures. I lived at Totsuka for almost four years. 1968-1972. My father was in the US Navy, and was the Commanding Officer here. It was Dad's idea to allow the local population access to the land around some of the antenna arrays to use as garden area. As a kid (8-11 years old) this was a fun place to live. One of the pictures shows our old garage. As an adult now, it's kind of sad to see the state of decay that is occurring.
