横浜公園

A very nice (very) small park with several water features, benches, and walkways that is just a few minutes walk away from Chinatown and next to the stadium. Although this park is very small and lacks the amenities of larger parks I give it 5 stars because it is simple, accessible, and is an oasis of peace and quiet. There is a pond (a metal fence prevents children falling in) and several stone benches scattered around. The nicest thing is the fact that although it is small it is highly designed and sculpted. Small streams criss-cross the park, flanked by the occasional stone lantern. Don't visit this park if you are expecting a large park with expansive manicured lawns to sit on. DO visit if you need a breather from the crowds and bustle of China Town and you are happy just to sit and relax surrounded by trees. When I visited it was not crowded but seating is limited as the park itself is small. Any time I visit China Town I'd consider this a possible stop off to unwind!

Came here for the kid's playground. It's plenty fun, but the public restrooms in the park are filthy.

元々この地区も江戸時代までは入海で太田屋新田と呼ばれていたところです。横浜村が開港地に指定されると当時この地の開発の任に当たった幕府の神奈川奉行は、慌ててこの地を埋めたてたそうです。当時は港崎遊郭がありましたが、当公園にある石灯篭は、岩亀楼という当時一番大きい遊郭のモニュメントです。この遊郭は幕末の横浜の大火で消失、遊郭が存在したのは、わずかの期間でした。その後、遊郭は、昔は吉原町と呼ばれた今の伊勢崎町あたり、ここでも火事で消失し、また今の横浜橋商店街の付近真金町に移転、その後高島町に移転しました。この地は、港崎遊郭消失後も、地盤がとても良くなかったようで住宅地として不適で、公園内に彼の銅像がありますが、結局イギリスの土木技士のブラントンに開発を任せざるを得なかったようです。だから今の横浜公園の原型を作ったのは、ブラントンですね。そこで日本で初めてこの地に公園が作られる計画の運びとなり、当時は、ここは彼我公園と呼ばれておりました。そのことから、外国人（彼）のみならず、日本人（我）も利用出来る公園として横浜公園は、日本の公園の発祥の地と言われることもあるんですね。ちなみに公園の発祥ということだけであれば、イギリス人にテニスコートとして利用されていた山手公園の方が早いですね。

横浜の山下公園は子供の頃からの言わばhome townですが、本心を言うと昔の頃の方が遥かに良かった。海がずっときれいだったし港未来なんて巨大なショッピングモールがなくてももっと旨いハンバーガーはあちらこちらにあり食べることも出来た。ファッションも元町などはずっと人々も学生もたくさんいて港周辺がロマンチックだったのさ. 開発は進んだけど、ロマンが消え失せたなぁ.

Thrill seekers will surely enjoy the rides in the theme park situated right in the middle of the reclaimed area of the Yokohama bay. One can also just relax on the grass around the outdoor ampitheater and watch the bay with a number of boats for tourists.
