6If you’re only here to pay the weight tax you’ll want to go to Building C, Window 5.
Difficult getting use to the requirements but the customer service there is great. The process of getting a custom plate was relatively seamless given one of the guys that worked there literally walked me around to pretty much every stop. Only because getting a custom plate is a little outside of the usual registration process.
Can't read Japanese, but the people here are very good at telling you where to go with pictures and basic directions. Only takes Yen. No card or USD
Would recommend going yourself instead of using a runner. Pretty easy as long as you haven't modded your car
Easy to use, semi English friendly. US DMVs need to take a lesson from this place.
Very fast, polite service. For military personnel who have completed their base inspection, the sequence is as follows:
1. Go to the small side office of building D. Paperwork will be completed. Charge is about 900 yen.
2. Go to the front of building D and pay the weight tax. This will vary based on vehicle, but will be somewhere around 15000 yen.
3. Building A, station 5. Paperwork reviewed and stamped. You'll be told which inspection line to go to in building B (huge inspection building).
4. Building B. Paperwork reviewed and a quick look under the hood and at the dash.
5. Return to building A, this time at station 4. Final paperwork reviewed and weigh-tax sticker issuance.
6. Return to your VRO (or service equivalent) to update your base vehicle information.
