YOKOHAMA COUNTRY & ATHLETIC CLUB (YC&AC)

Yokohama Country and Athletic Clubは1868（明治元）年、スコットランド出身の若者を中心に結成された横浜クリケットクラブ（YCC）を前身とする組織です。

その発足から数えると今年でなんと154年年という歴史を持つ日本最古のスポーツクラブで、クリケット・ラグビーなど、さまざまなスポーツを日本に普及させた立役者でもあります。

現在は横浜市中区山手の丘の上に位置し、1万5000坪の広大な敷地の中に多種多様なスポーツ＆娯楽向け設備が整う会員制クラブとして運営されています。

Great sports venue uphill. You can bring your kids as there is a playground, a restaurant and a view of Mt. Fuji from the club house.

Nice place for the sports. Very good equipped gym, tennis courts football court. Can book & play cricket.
Also a restaurant available. Ofcourse alcohol available.

Nice experience

150 years of heritage. This club is for the elite members. Non-members can enter too at a higher price. The restaurant has a leisure vibe and their beef burgers are amazing. Lot of sports facilities including swimming, soccer, cricket, tennis, bowling etc.

Though it’s nice being able to rent a spacious turf field for private use, overall the facility itself is really subpar. Old and unkempt. The restaurant is notorious for delivering food late and not so good in quality. The French fries I ordered were very soggy and unsalted. The soy burger was something I could make at home. Didn’t come with any condiments on it, had to ask for ketchup and mustard, which they provided via small packets. A cup of coffee in size small that tasted like the coffee at my office was astounding ¥350. Not cool. The shower room for both men and women are dirty, though body soap and shampoo provided and all for free of charge, it would be nice to have separate units for children and adults. Not cool there also. It’s located not too far from the JR Yamate Station but requires a lot of walking uphill on stone-paved steps. Always cold and wind gushing in the winter. Make sure to take extra clothing even in the spring season.

会員制の施設。１階はレストラン、2階はいくつかのレンタル室と屋外にテーブルが並ぶテラススペース。
時代の流れを感じる写真や本等飾られていて、雰囲気のある施設だと思います。
古さはありますが館内、トイレも掃除がきちんとされています。

外国人向けの会員スポーツクラブということで、１階入口に横浜ベイスターズラミレス監督寄贈のマスコットが飾られていたり、日本代表スポーツユニフォームの展示もありました。

2階からは、グラウンドの向こうに遠く海が見え高台の山手ならではの風景です。

It's open for public during the obon festival, with live music, bouncing castle, and American style food.

The buildings are pretty old and the food could be better sometimes, they keep on changing chefs which is a bit confusing. However the pool is alright during summer and has a nice atmosphere. One thing that annoys me the most is that they keep on closing the basketball/volleyball gym almost every week due to parties or meetings and usually take another day to clean up. They do not warn about it so many times I showed up at the club for nothing. The gym also tends to be pretty dirty and dusty. It is also very expensive for non-members to come in so I do not recommend to invite your non-member friends and I also don't recommend to plan parties (birthdays etc.) there. The staff however is very nice and welcoming and the tennis courts are also good.

ヨコハマ･カントリー＆アスレチック･クラブは1868年英国商人により組織された会員制クリケットクラブが前身。
1901年にはラグビーで慶應義塾大学と初の国際試合を行い、日本のラグビーの発祥となった。
1896年には野球で第一高等学校、現東京大学と初の国際試合を横浜公園平和野球場の前身であるクリケット場で行い野球も日本国内に伝えている。
2008年現在会員は54ヶ国約2000人。

Y. C. ＆A. C. JAPAN SEVENS
1959年より主催に当たっている7人制ラグビーの全国大会。
全国の大学・社会人の強豪を招待して16チームによるノックアウトトーナメントを行う。

If you're a foreigner or want to meet foreigners, there are few places that can deliver the social pinch that this place will. Would be 5 stars if good was better and prices for everything was cheaper.

Over priced. But if you're in Japan for a while and want to instantly jump start your social life with other foreigners, it's hard to beat.

Interior is a bit old, the membership cost ist relatively high. Many activities can be booked and the trainers are polite and competent.

Nostalgic visit with a friend who grew up and lived in Yokohama. It was the teen hangout for the International students. Great bar.

Building is a bit dates, but I could enjoy the American atmosphere. Thanksgiving brunch was delcious.

Variety of activities and sports but overpriced: need a membership, only free for the first time as a guest accompanied by a member (500¥ for a visit, 1000¥ during weekends). Old facilities and close early: 18: 00.
