スタッフさんは非常に対応いいですよ。
部屋は古い。ロビーはいい感じ。

BEWARE: Rude Owner, Poorly Maintained / Tiny rooms, Bad Location

I booked Hotel Cultured for 5 days after seeing their website and other guest reviews posted on trip advisor and other booking platforms, however, the experience proved to be extremely disappointing, unsatisfactory and at some instances thoroughly unprofessional.

My first shock was when I entered the room that I had been given. The room did not match at all the pictures posted on trip advisor / the hotel’s website, rather it was extremely small, old and poorly maintained. The room had virtually no storage space except for a small plywood shelf and a coat hanger that was falling apart. The bigger issue however, came when all of our suitcases where on the ground (full of clothes due to very limited storage) as there was no, literally no more walking space. To get into our beds, we were forced to climb onto the suitcases and when trying to walk in the room, we had 15 cm in width of walking space making it extremely inconvenient and unpleasant to circulate. Furthermore, the twin beds were not side by side as in the pictures but rather placed perpendicularly as the room couldn’t fit two twin beds as showed on the website’s configuration. At first sight this might not seem like an issue, but in reality, the beds were arranged in such a way that my roommate’s feet were directly in my face (5 cm apart) each time he would sleep, making for very uncomfortable nights… Additionally, the bed mattress was extremely hard, the pillows of low quality and the blanket, used to the point where holes where starting to form in it. I was even more surprised by the fact that no duvets were used and that there were some sweat stains on both the pillow and blanket… making me wonder about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of this hotel…

However, now onto the more surprising / unforeseen part of my stay to say the least. I turned out to feel sick on the first day that I arrived and decided that I would rather rest alone in my room and get one of my friends (also staying in the same hotel) to bring me up food as I was feeling unwell. At first, the hotel staff seemed worried but helpful, however, it later turned out to be quite the opposite on my third night there, where I decided to go to the hotel’s only restaurant. I was feeling better and felt as if I wasn’t at risk of passing along my sickness. When I arrived into the lobby, the person at the front desk told me that I could not go to eat because I was sick, I replied that I was healed and asked her how I should eat, but suddenly the OWNER of the hotel BURSTED into the lobby and began YELLING at me to go back into my room and that I was not welcome in the restaurant and the lobby. He continued screaming “go away now, Go back to your room, I don’t want you there! ” then adding a few words each time in Japanese, which I obviously did not understand (leaving room for interpretation as to what he was saying …) I was shocked and did not know how to react, but to think of how unprofessional, impolite and how unwelcoming this man’s actions where. The next day however, I decided to go and relax in the lobby and was also indirectly told to leave… which I did not do as I explained that I was healed. Resulting from this, I unfortunately wasn’t even able to checkout in advance as all nights had been paid as per the hotel’s policy. (Beware!) One thing is for sure, I will definitely make sure not to do that in the future, as these people did not deserve my money as no apologizes were made and their attitude was completely disproportionate and disrespectful.

The fire exit is blocked on the fourth floor. They us it as storage space. The only way out if a fire happens is out the window, 9/11 style.

Hotel itself is a bit meh. Front counter staff are amazing. The young girl made it a pleasure to come back to at the end of the day. Amazing what a smile, positive attitude and friendliness can do.
