We loved our stay at Kimi Ryokan! The ryokan is clean and has a calming vibe, and the staff are friendly - plus, there's green tea on tap in the kitchen. We were especially grateful when, after my husband left something in our room, the staff actually mailed it next-day shipping to our next location (which was far away). Highly recommend!

I don't want to stay anywhere else in Tokyo. The interior is relaxing and adorable, with a lived-in, down-to-earth feel. The rooms are small but clean and you can't beat the value.

The two best things?

The staff are the nicest people you'll ever meet. I always enjoyed coming home after a long day to say hello.

The other thing is the bath, which is absolutely worth signing up for in the evenings. You'll think you died and entered the Pure Land!

Can't wait to visit again, and I recommend Kimi to all my friends who travel to Tokyo.

This is the best accommodation in Tokyo. It is conveniently on the JR Yamanote Line so connects up with all the tourist spots (Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya etc) but means you’re out of the fray a bit. Great value and very comfortable for any traveller looking to have a more authentic Japanese experience sleeping on mats on the floor.

I stay here every time I'm in Tokyo. Great prices and located a short walk from Ikebukuro station. The staff are friendly and speak English. Small rooms, but comfortable and clean with tatami mat floors and futons, so it has a traditional feel. Free WiFi and AC units in each room.

One downside is no private bathrooms; they have shared bathrooms on each floor. Also they lock the doors between 2am and 7am, so if you're out late make it back before 2!
