I loved ASIJ.from 1970 to 1980.and now have a grand daughter there. I was a staff employee who helped initiate the unique and $$ successful Summer Day Camp.with Vince and Sue Totero. VIVA global thinkers.love peace. CAMY CONDON
This place walks their talk. As a lifelong educator, I kicked the tires pretty hard before taking the plunge. It’s not for everyone but our family has been well served by choosing ASIJ over other options in the area. We only wish it were a little bit closer.
As others have mentioned there are little upsides save for the large campus. We did very little genuine learning and I am glad I have moved schools since. For example we build structures out of marshmallows (?) instead of learning.
Im About To Be A Senior Student And Rn Im Looking For A School That Would Fit Me And i Kinda like this one but the problem is. Is that im pretty much 100%asian and this is a American HighSchool. Well the reason why i liked this one is because im not good at Japanese and im pretty much talk in English well. The only problem is. Is that im not a pretty good English speaker so yeah.
I want some suggestions to other's of what school i should pick.
Oh and i already pick this one and a all boys school.
Easily the best International school in Japan, huge infrastrcuture, excellent curriculam with a focus on allround development.
VERY OVERRATED. After 2014, when the administration changed, this became a very low quality school with a fairly good average with test scores but this school will not accelerate your kids or put your kids into higher classes. If your child is gifted, you may seriously want to consider this. This school is almost no different than an average public American high school.
Campus nice. There it ends. Teachers mixed. Discipline in elementary school reminiscent of Lord of the Flies. Non native Japanese teaching in high school unforgivably slow.like a token gesture. Buses dirty and full of screaming, undisciplined kids.bus monitors are HS students who cd care less. Kids here have huge sense of entitlement. Lots of cheating in HS. Only one educational trip out in 5th grade.to the park next door. A hugely overrated experience.run quickly to look somewhere else.
The new goal of the head of the school to let it become an elite school. I think it already is if you see which universities the graduates move on to. The teachers are amazing there and go the extra mile every day.
Well known school with huge space but way out of the city center. Have to use transportation or school bus.
Amazing school, despite it's distance from downtown Tokyo, it is located in a great environment. There is Chofu Airport near the school, and everyday you can see planes coming in on short final or flying away from the airport. The school is also adjacent to Nogawa Park. I heard students sometimes go to the park for a real life lesson for Science class. The facilities are amazing, and students are encouraged to be familiar with technology. For Elementary school, students are required to bring an iPad. From Middle School to High School, you need a MacBook. So basically homework are done on the devices, and it is linked with teachers so you can contact them easily (What I heard from a friend’s student).
Anyways, ASIJ is a great school with nice facilities, and in my opinion it is one of the best schools in Japan.
They occupy park, block the passages, run in a train, speak soooo loud like they want to show they are speaking English or disturb others' conversation in public spaces and PLAY LOUD MUSIC IN THE ALL-NIGHT SCHOOLYARD PARTYS EVEN IT IS 1 O''CLOCK AM. Too selfish. CRAZY SCHOOL. Neighbors really hate them.
Honestly, the campus looks to big. You have to eat air and choke your lungs out just to get to PE where you are forced to do the same thing. Caj had a smaller campus and a well organized hallway. With a bigger campus is more people, and with more people are more bullies, and with more bullies are more problems. NOT a good idea to attend
Everyone here is dumb, the teachers are idiots and they cannot teach. AARHH
The food is disgusting,
They charge so much for a horrible education
The ASIJ is truly impressive. It was founded al the way in 1902. The school has a very big campus and the facilities are advanced. Students are also encouraged to pursue the arts, take subjects in robotics, and are connected to Japanese culture as well as the outside world. The school itself is like a bubble, and the students come from all nationalities, with locals comprising less than half the population. The buildings are well-maintained, and the curriculum is truly at par with high global standards.
