The BEST English-language preschool in Tokyo. Shelley Sacks, the director of this school, is an extremely wise and gifted teacher and mentor. She sees your child's uniqueness and potential. The children who come to this school are confident and flourish because they are taught to celebrate themselves and others and this sticks with them for the rest of their lives. My "child" is now 21 and those wonderful things he learned from Shelley at age 4 and 5 still today are among his strong character traits.

Ohana International School is such an amazing place! Children learn all about art, music, nature, different cultures, as well as getting a strong foundation in letters and numbers. Big focus on values, community and how to become a global citizen of the world. School provides caring and nurtured invoirenment for little children. The teachers are so dedicated, kind, engaged and creative. Highly recommended!

My youngest son spent 4 years at Ohana and I saw him grow up from a tiny 'BUD' to a big, happy, confident 'Flower'. Two years later he still has his birthday card from his Ohana Classmates hanging in his room and talks about his school life there often. A school that felt more like a second home, teachers who are involved and full of ideas to create the best learning and playing activities. A truly wonderful experience and the best foundation for school life one could ever dream of!

My 3 boys spent their first years in Japan at Ohana. They came with no English at all and in 3 months were already speaking English. Ohana is like family with Shelly, John John, Marina, Kai, Nimo and all other great teachers. Your work is holy work, Thank you!

Ohana is wonderful school! It’s run by a fantastic group of early childhood educators who are all very talented. Most of the teachers and staff are also artists in their own right and they use this talent to nurture and develop the children. Days at Ohana are filled with love and fun and the children always come home exited about all the wonderful things they did throughout the day. A little school with a big heart. My two children attended Ohana for preschool for a main reason: it’s a school created and run by educators. There is a common philosophy around child development that puts the child’s learning first through play, curious questioning and creativity. I felt the teachers all saw and knew my children deeply who were able to grow and thrive as a result. I was active in the PTA and loved the community and my own friendships too.

Years after my child attended this amazing school we still see the positive impact of the time at Ohana. There’s an incredible community centering around the school driven by Shelley, the staff, the parents organization and all the families. The teachers and staff invest in each and every child’s unique development and the children learn to build community and support each other. I could not have hoped for a better foundation for my child and our family!

I'm impressed that the teachers and staff in Ohana maintain a close and warm relationship with the families and students. They also provide individualized support for each student’s need. I like parents and the school work together to support the children and the community.

Ohana has literally been the “family” we needed during our time here in Japan. Both my girls have loved it here and they truly consider the teachers part of their upbringing. The environment is friendly, supportive and someone is always there to help you should you need to navigate any aspect of your child’s development or need support. Can’t recommend it enough!
