3Despite being disrupted by a video team filming for a special occasion, we enjoyed the sushi making class. The sensei (teacher) and her assistants ensured that we were well taken care of (with hot tea too). There were opportunities to go to the front where the teacher would demonstrate making some dishes and you could also hands-on while the teacher instructed. The ingredients used for the class were fresh from Tsukiji Market and you get to kill live prawns for your tempura. Great experience.
Perfect day for amateur cooking. They made cooking Japanese accessible for the out-of-towner.
I can't speak highly enough of the team at Tsukiji Cooking. They held a team building cooking competition for us followed by a dinner/party. We were 25 (highly competitive) people cooking and 38 people at the dinner. While the group was big, the instructor along with her team of 5 staff kept everyone under control and on the timeline. While the staff was very professional, they also kept things light and made sure everyone had fun. They really took great care of us and everyone had a wonderful time. If you're looking for a unusual experience in Tokyo, I would highly recommend visiting Tsukiji Cooking.
