Everything is exceptional, literally every single detail. From the stone paved entrance, to the service (we don't speak Japanese and none of the staff/chef speak any English), the food of course is beautiful, and even the containers (lack of a better word) that hold the food are all carefully thought out. A must visit for anyone that not only loves food, but also to savour every bite, to ponder upon the reason that the dish is prepared and presented in such a way. Eg.shreds of crab coated with vinegar in a form of jelly, genius I would say, imagine that vs crab dipped in vinegar? And everything is seasonal so if we go during summer (we went during mid Jan) everything will be entirely different. All of this doesn't come cheap though, ours was 20000 yen per head (another option is 12000 yen) plus 10% service charge, plus tax. The place is not easy to find, we took a taxi from the hotel (we stayed at Shinjuku). Will visit again next time.
Michelin restaurant which you need to book in advance including an idea of the menu choice - serving only courses and seasonal - so depending on when you go you'll enjoy something special for that time of year or what is 'in season'
Highly recommend also going with the pairing for the drinks - depending on season of dishes served you'll get a variety of tastes and flavours to match from beer, crisp or sweet whites, dry, light or heavy reds, cold, warm sweet or dry nihonshu thru others.if you don't drink alcohol then there is a tea's etc
We've been on several occasions as a couple and with clients as a small group - the restaurant is only small with a handful of tables and a few counter seats - this is the style so that each dinner can enjoy the chef (owners) personal touch and experience
Food and service has always been exception when we have been and would highly recommend
As you'd except the pricing is there to match the quality, exclusivity and service
We still haven't, or my wife may have, taken a photo with the chef (apologies i forget his name) and one of his trade mark styles - he wears the geta to see you off and they are dreadfully noise in the small street outside - the restaurant is also somewhere you'll not happen to walk passed as its in a residential area on the second floor of an unassuming fairly modern styled building
Highly recommend for the personal dining experience
