The relationship between the emperor and the people is not that of master and servant.
The relationship between the emperor and the people is one of mutual respect and admiration.
The emperor and the people are one. The emperor is not a monarch, but a great parent figure.
Good place to run!
Excellent place to run when in Tokyo. Extremely popular for runners. Exactly a 5K. Did they design it for running when they constructed it? Rare place in middle of Tokyo where you can run continuously without having to stop at traffic lights unless you are running at parks next to the river. There is a lot of pedestrians during daytime hours, so you do have to be courteous and work around people. It is a good 5K because it has some uphill that gives the 5K a little extra edge.
The surroundings are superb with a wide view of the city behind and the entrance to the palace.it is well guarded and very beautifully maintained. One visiting Japan must also check out this place and read more about its rich history of Japanese Empire
Lindo demais. If you have the opportunity, it completely worths a visit, that's always a good place to go if you want to get in touch with the local culture, just because you're gonna see lots of people and different things.
A beautiful and calm place in the centre of Tokyo. The surrounding is quiet as well. Great place to visit if able to get appointment to visit the insides.
This place is huge! You can only see the grounds. I wasn't overly impressed. You can't get anywhere near the palace, nor can you see it. For English only speaking visitors, won't find directions in English anywhere. The walls and mote are impressive, but that's where it stops for me.
Beautiful, you can't go to the imperial palace but it is a beautiful park and a wonderful pond with golden/ silver/ black white red koï fish!
A beautiful place and very educational. I learnt so much about the history of the Imperial Palace while walking around and reading the numerous info boards all over. You can spend a few hours here easily at it's easy to get lost in the beauty of it. It was free as far as I remember which is always great. If you are in Tokyo, then this is a must to visit.
Nice but no more, visit only if you have some spare time and you r in the erea. The brides are beutiful but no need to enter to see them but from outside of the park
The scale is massive. We went in a day we couldn’t go in, so you just get to look from afar, which wasn’t that great.
This was a tour of the palace grounds, not the east garden or inside any buildings. Also, there's no restrooms or places to take a break during the tour, so if you can't handle walking and standing for the ~75 minutes, it might not be for you.
We got to see the old stone walls and beautiful buildings, and heard about the history of the palace, and it was awesome.
The tour moved pretty quickly, and at times we fell behind and missed things when we stopped to take pictures.
Also they say you need a reservation to get a tour, but my wife and I were able to go un-scheduled and there wasn't any problem.
Most of the main buildings are gone, mainly just walls, paths and gardens with dotted historical buildings and a couple shops.
People are allowed outside the palace gates and the area by the pond with the bridge is the best view you will get of the imperial palace.the only time of the year that the palace gates are open is during new years (jan 2) which is the bday of the emperor
