Awesome place. Not only because its shōwa decoration and food, but also the food is crazy cheap. You eon’t get a lot and the food isn’t that great unless you’ve found something you really like. But everything else balances it out, especially when you can do a restaurant roulette and order off the Japanese menu (if you can’t read it) by random pretending you know what you’re doing and be surprised with what you get. I love it. Great fun with a friend.

友人と二人で行きました。
ファーストでドリンク2杯とフード3品を注目したところ、ドリンク2杯とお通しはすぐ来たのですが、フード3品が１時間近く来ませんでした。
店を変えようと伝票を貰ったところ、きっちりフード3品も入れられてました。
さすがに、来てない分は引いてもらいました。
ぼったくる気満々に感じました。

Foreigners and locals alike love this place. Huge menu, and very big drink size option for the thirsty. All in Showa-like fashion, nothing like the big boring izakaya atmosphere.

One of the best izakayas I’ve been to! English menu available and very nice staff. There is a time limit of 2 hours but so worth it and very cheap/great food. Highly recommend

Never had a bad time here. Decent cheap food. English menu has some hilarious translation errors. Watch your head if you are tall. Expect to wait for a table on weekends. Expect to be surprised at how cheap your final bill is.

Atmosphere is super tacky, found it to be rather annoying after a short while, service was so-so. Food was alright but you can find way better izakayas. Karaage was really good, had to ask for mayo tho. Cover charge is 380¥ for which you get free cabbage

Retro wonderful place to enjoy some classic Japanese food in a nice environment covered in vintage posters and with cool music from few years back. Big menu but amazing prizes so give it a try!:)

Food is good, not special. It's a little bit noise but if your fine with that you can have fun here

We were charged 390jpy per person for a plate of cabbage we didn't order. It cost more than the hot sake we had ordered which was 290jpy. So absurd! Really felt conned. Us being foreigners there isn't much we can do.but to warn you guys before hand that this BS exist! If you dont mind getting charged 390jpy PER PERSON FOR EFFIN RAW CABBAGE.you can patronise this place.else steer clear!

Very nice and cheap Izakaya. All the food was great, cheap & the drinks were tasty. The ambience is really neat, come with a group or solo but you'll have plenty of fun! Drink

Interesting aesthetics of old Japanese pop culture. Cheap food but very small portions. Hard drinks are quite weak too. Plus side is that the service was quite good.

焼き鳥は50円〜で、店の名前の通りお安く食べれます。味も悪くありませんでした。店内は昭和の駄菓子屋の様な内装で、駄菓子も注文出来ます。昔懐かしい感じの昭和歌謡？が店内に流れています。音が少し大きいので、気にならない方は楽しめると思います。

Amazing place with great 20s, 30s Japanese mood. The food is amazing and travels you back in time. Really cool place!

So glad we followed reviews and ventured into the 5th floor of some building to find the great world kf Hanbey. The place is extremely charming with tons of posters, memorabilia and Japan's '50s soundtracks playing over the speakers.

We were handed English menus but fret not cause this is no tourist trap as most if not all people seemed to be locals. Small plates are extremely tasty and cheap around 200/300 yen. A large pint of cold beer is 490 yen. It's not fine dining. It's great bar food.

There's a time limit of 2 hours which is kind of a shame but understandable as there was a line when we got out.

Would definitely make this my to-go bar if it was closer to my home country.

Great food, fun atmosphere and incredibly funny, kind and attentive staff. Definitely returning here!

Awesome little restaurant in Shinjuku. Technically an izakaya, this place offers a tonne of cheap choices for meat and other dishes, served singularly much like tapas. Prices start very small, perhaps around 140yen for one skewer of charcoal grilled chicken, and most things are very delicious. The English menu is. Questionably translated. But easy enough to find what you'd want. I don't want to know what the "high quality cat food" is, however.

The place is styled like a small 1950s Japanese pub and the decor is awesome, it makes for a great experience when dining here. A must visit.

Really peculiar izakaya with an old-timey atmosphere and unusual items, like frogs and insects. But also the usual yakitori and such.
