混んでるので覚悟して。建物内に証明写真機が有りますが行列が出来てるので事前に用意して行った方が良い。書類が返信されるのに封筒と404円の切手が必要。これも建物内にコンビニが有るけど混んでるので事前に用意した方が良い。封筒に自分の住所、名前を書いて切手を貼って空いてるスペースに赤字で簡易書留 (かんいかきとめ) と書く

Considering the difficult job and the amount of non local the place is relatively clean, although dirty if compared to average cleanness of place in Tokyo. It can be reached by 10 minus bus ride from Shinagawa station. The staff are usually calm and kind considering the job they are doing, although they almost only speak Japanese (aside from the information counter). The revenue stamps can be bought at the convenience store on the first floor.

How to Tokyo immigration office:

1. Prepare your documents beforehand (forms are available online; revenue stamps can be bought at your local Conbini or post office; 4x3 pictures taken at your local photo box)
2. Go there super early, best at 07: 45 (doors open 08: 30, service starts at 09: 00) there will be a huge line later.
3. If unsure which counter to go, ask the reception in ground floor. They are efficient.

Below I took a list of the counters in second floor as of February 2020. Still, I recommend asking at the reception, rather than risking time loss for lining up at the wrong counter. Best of success!

A - Permission (residence inspection)
B- Application (inspection for status of residence) (Extension, Chance of Status, Acquisition)
C - business and employment inspection department (consultation about employment status)
D- residence card (reissuance, Extension of residence card (permanent residents only) re-entry / automatted gate; permanent residence inspection department (consultation service counter)

*automatted Gate can also be applied for at the airport

* there are 2 Photo machines in ground floor

* there is a family mart in ground floor

Location is inconvenient and building is dirty, process is also old (they are using paper and post for everything). But duty wise it's ok.

Horrible place, staff don't speak any English, slow system, bad location. Nothing good about it at all.

The worst of the offices that I visited ever in Japan.
When you renew your ID card, you will not know how long it will takes forever. Maybe over two months you still can’t have it even though your flies doesn’t have any questions. It took me lost more than 350000en because of this and they won’t even say a sorry to me. I became confused about why I choose to live in this country. I’m sorry.

Tried calling this place, never goes through to a live person. Instead all you get is a woman saying the line is busy. Wasted so much time and money calling this freakin' place.

Japan's trying to get more and more foreginers into Japan, but its such a joke. The attitudes of the employees (government employees) are very bad, just awful.

You gotta give atleast 1 star, but I would give them minus 100 stars.

Get a native to come with you and save a little time. Got rejected, but generally the staff were helpful. +2 stars for the nice obaa-chans who weren't snappy and the ones who explained the rejection reason in English. -4 for the rejection.

Staff are helpful but it is always crowded and the parking lot is full. You have to wait long time to get in the parking area.

Worst place ever, if you don't go there early in the morning it will be really hard and long waiting for you. Recommend bring something entertaining and water.

When I went there for getting my visa I was there at 8 left at 12.

Hell on earth. Nothing says welcome to japan like every single bathroom in the building being filthy and broken. The staff speak only Japanese and hit on you. There is nothing to do and you’ll wait from 1-8 hours for anything. Understaffed and run down. One star is rich. 2020 olympics ready? Not if your portal for the rest of the world to come to Japan looks like this. Good enough for those “immigrants” I suppose. Nasty.

The worst of the offices that I visited ever in Japan. If you live in another state, it is much better to have immigration procedures over there. Highly unmanaged in terms of the volume of people who come there for applications. + Slow + The inside of the place looks broken. Defies the Japanese service standards/offices.

The place is ok and they give you the necessary information to make your process faster. At the permission for engaging in other activities other than the visa permission the line advances a at rate of 1.5 person per minute which I find amazing. This means that they process 90 to 100 people per hour! Amazing, however there are many people coming so average wait is around 1 hour to 2 hours

Come as early as possible to avoid long waiting time. The bus service from Shinagawa Station is very crowded in weekdays with a long queue.
Tokyo immigration office usually starts from 8: 30AM but there will be a queue at the front of the gate trying to enter as soon as possible. Average waiting time here is around 1.5 hrs.

If you don't have any other reason to hate Japan then go to any of the immigration offices. Very rude staffs and the one at the counter made me wantonly sit for 2 hours to just check the application. Few Terms differ internationally if you don't understand it ask us instead of directly rejecting it because of poor knowledge.

Crowded area but you will find the staff very helpful. Most attractive thing is family mart is inside the building so its very convenient for people for buying some foods n having drinks times also. But the as compared to other places in japan the area is little bid duty.but overall go in time you will be pleased to be here
