56Service was great, decor was nice, chefs were wonderful and paid attention to everyone's pace of eating at the counter and served accordingly. Good place to go to for a nice lunch. Omakase set menus for lunch
Reservation only. We ended up eating across the restaurant and even thoughthey had free spots, they wouldn't let you in nor did they take reservations.
Very reasonably priced. Need booking although you can wait for walk-in. Doesn't guarantee you a seat thought. The food are fresh. Highly recommended
This is a nice sushi restaurant. It is not authentic type but rather have modernized feel. The omakaze meal will have about 13-15 items from appetizer to dessert, so one should feel full at the end. Seafood and other ingredients are fresh, though not the premium grade. For a restaurant in Shinjuku shopping area, the price is quite acceptable. The lunch menu is cheaper than dinner. Remember to make reservation first to secure a seat, its always crowded.
Fantastic value for money set lunch. There was abalone, uni, anago, and a lot more. Better to make reservations otherwise come early when it opens.
Went for breakfast at around 730 am, very nice atmosphere with only 2 other patrons there. Breakfast omakase was a donburi bowl with clam soup. Both were delicious. The portion size was reasonable.
Overall a very cosy and nice place with good food for a higher than average price. (1620 yen)
Very affordable omakase at only 7000Yen (or 70$) for dinner! You get 20ish dishes for that price, and 15 dishes for 3700Yen at lunchtime. Please make a reservation to get a seat though.
For the price point, the food was amazing. The chef could also speak minimal English and explained all of the dishes to us. We got lobster, two kinds of uni (sea urchin), ankimo (angler fish liver) even desserts. I would say that this is my greatest find in Tokyo!
Excellent sushi, very reasonable price. We ordered the chef selection only 7000 yen, and in the end we ate around 20 dishes of sushi, sashimi, etc. Totally worth it.
You must get a reservation before you go. You can try your luck by calling in the morning but it's best to book a few days in advance. The seafood is very fresh and the variety of foods that they serve will ensure that you don't leave feeling that you need something else. There are no menus - it is up to the chef what he wants to serve. The only choice is if you arrive around 1-2 you will be offered a choice of whether you want the lunch menu or dinner menu.
17 plates of delicious sushi + some soups! Lunch omakase is really worth it - 3,780 Yen per pax. There’s abalone, uni (sea urchin), many many raw fish slices and delicious clam soups! Queue time is about half an hour without reservation, try to come early or around 130pm for shorter queues. Located at the Shinjuku train station, part of Newoman mall’s eating zone but separated from the main building. Cost little setting, not luxurious but you get good food.
Since it's was so late, we decide to give this place a try, the portion you get not worth the price. The mix variety sea food was so littler for 2 orders. Other meat was so salty that I couldn't eat it. This place serve food portion really small and you can not get full for the price you pay
Tried this restaurant since the omakase lunch was reasonably priced and had good reviews online.
Chef seemed friendly and asked us for our allergies and greeted us with smiles.
The clam soups were very yummy, fish was fresh and abalone absolutely delicious.
Having said that, the discrimination we encountered felt like a fish bone stuck in our throats. We noticed the chef serving chutoro and otoro to the locals and a special white fish that had the locals gushing with delight. Also saw aburi sushi that was never served to us.
Towards the end of the lunch, the bill was automatically served and waiter standing behind us to (not so) subtly pressure us to pay immediately. Didn't see them doing this to the locals though. We were still finishing our tea.
All in all, the food might be good and reasonably priced, but we will not go back again.
